Write the Vision…

And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Habakuk 2:2-3 (KJV)

Has God given you a vision? Was it something that was so out of your wheelhouse that you doubted that it was even from God? Or did you step out in faith and go for it? Sometimes God answers our prayers through visions. In my experience in speaking with people who are walking in their purpose and calling, almost all of them started with a vision. God gives an idea that one just can’t shake. In those times, you should write it down. The vision He gives you is for you. In answer to a prayer or for a task for which you and only you are called. A lot of times, the vision is bigger than what you can imagine. Jeremiah 29:11 ring a bell? The vision God gives you is meant to prosper not only you but the nations that spring forth from you.

God is a generational God. He doesn’t just bless you, He blesses your lineage. We write the vision so that we can gain a better understanding of what our part is. So we can be clear about what our role is and what we are to do specifically. So we can see which parts are ours and which parts are solely God’s. The seemingly impossible parts. We write it down so that it can be seen as evidence of what God is doing. God tells Habakuk not to worry because what He says will come to pass. He tells Habakuk that although He is giving him this vision, it’s not time for it to happen yet but, it will. That even though it may take some time, it will come. It is the same with the vision He has given you.

God gives us a vision to prepare us for what is to come. It’s a sneak peek into what He has planned for you. A look at what we need to grow into in order to walk effectively in our calling. Even though God doesn’t give us His whole plan all at once, He gives us preparation steps for what is to come. As 2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV) reminds us (For we walk by faith, not by sight:). By faith, we write down the vision because it is God speaking directly to us about what He has planned for us. Whether it is in answer to a prayer or a stepping stone to your purpose, it is His word. When God speaks, it is a guarantee that it is already done.

As you study your bible, pay attention to when God speaks. It’s usually in the past tense because for Him, it’s done. It also comes with “will” before the thing He says because He is moved to do that thing He is saying He will do. God’s word is an absolute guarantee. It is the only word that you can bank on. Habakuk 3:3 says the vision will speak and not lie because it is God’s word. Numbers 23:19 (KJV) says God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it ? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

So, when God gives you a vision, and He will, walk in it. Start moving forward in the confidence and knowledge that He will do just what He said He will do. ~ Selah
