Swiftly and Completely

How many times have you heard your mother yell from another room, “Don’t make me come in there?” You and your friends/siblings were being too rambunctious. Your mom had had enough and she threw the warning out there. How many times did you ignore it only to find her standing right there faster than lightning getting ready to make you do what you were supposed to be doing? How many times did you say to yourself, “How did she move that fast?”

This illustration is the Word of God and movement of God in our lives. Hebrews 4:12 states, For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Things start to really become interesting when we begin to recognize the voice of God. If He tells you to turn away from something or gives you a warning not to go somewhere or do something or perhaps, to let something or someone go, you’d better do just that. As the verse in Hebrews states, God is quick, powerful, and sharper than the sharpest blade. There are the thinnest of lines between the soul and spirit, joints and marrow and the thoughts and intents of the heart. His word divides them all.

Like pruning a tree, you cut away what is hindering the growth of the tree. If God needs to step into your pruning process, it will be swift and complete and not necessarily painless. He will remove whatever the obstacle is so completely, that there will be no chance of return. Listen to what God says. If you’re not sure, confirm what you hear lines up with his Word. Move on it and watch God work. ~ Selah
