In Purpose On Purpose

Have you heard this one? The people that you are assigned to touch aren’t until you step into your purpose. I thought that this was just another churchism that we have adopted to urge people to grow in faith. To tap into their assignment for God. What I found is that it’s actually biblical. In the creation story, in fact.

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Genesis 2:7-8 KJV

I heard this theory explained once this way…

We can agree that we are all called for a purpose in the faith. What that specific something is we don’t know until God reveals it to us. When we answer the call, heaven rejoices but when we don’t there is a void that can only be filled by you. The people you were assigned to reach won’t be. A little dismal, no?

Understand, God’s Will will be done. Without question. Whether we do our part or not. Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: (Philippians 1:6) He does have a specific thing that is unique to you. Take writers for example. There are a plethora of writers expounding on the gospel. However, there are many styles of writing about the gospel. Think of the accounts of Jesus in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

If you are blessed by this post but, your friend is not, my voice is not for them. Because this style of writing may not be their cup of tea, they will not receive what is being conveyed. So, for those of you who think you can’t answer your call because the world doesn’t need another writer. The world doesn’t need another gospel musician. That could very well be but, my question to you is this, Do those others have your voice?

Your voice is what God wants. There is someone that needs to hear your voice. If you only ever have an audience of one, that one is your assignment. Genesis 2:7-8 in a nutshell says, God does not make a thing without a caretaker. Without a purpose. God did not create the garden without Adam in mind. Every man, woman, and child had a purpose before they were ever conceived. Remember Jeremiah 1:5, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. (KJV)

God never has a position without someone in mind. Once you have filled the position in which you are called, God will make it grow. Those ministry ideas that refuse you let you think about anything else. That book that has been following you for the last two years. Even that business that has been laid on your heart for the last decade, do it! Do all that God has laid on your heart. It doesn’t matter if you have the talent. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have the money. What matters is if you say yes to be the soil to plant the seed.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33 KJV)
